Focus on… Strule Arts Centre, Omagh

ImageOn the 26th of October 2013 Icarus Theatre Collective will perform Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ at the Strule Arts Centre. We’re very excited to come back to this fabulous venue in Omagh, having previously toured ‘Hamlet’ (2010/2011), ‘Macbeth’ (2011/2012) and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (2012/2013) here.

Strule Arts Centre is a multi-purpose venue in Omagh, Country Tyrone, Northern Ireland. This arts centre runs an extensive and dynamic event calendar year-round, and programmes first-class touring theatre, music, comedy, dance and children’s shows. Used by touring professional companies, musicians, amateur and community groups, Strule Arts Centre has staged international acts. Strule Arts Centre also provides a space for young people to develop their musical and artistic talents, for adults to learn to draw, write, dance, relax and be entertained.**

Strule Arts Centre first opened its doors to the public in June 2007, launching the centre’s first exciting events programme.**

In 2003 Omagh’s Town Hall was demolished to make way for the new Strule Arts Centre, which was very fitting as historically, the Town Hall was used by local artists and groups to perform and entertain the local people.  Strule Arts Centre is an integrated, purpose-built arts facility.**

Strule Arts Centre forms part of a regeneration project for the High Street/George Street/ Riverside area of Omagh Town. This beautiful venue is situated in the heart of Omagh. Omagh, the county town of Tyrone is a busy commercial centre and is accessible from all parts of Northern Ireland. Besides that, Omagh Bus Station car park is only a two minute walk to the venue.**
